WHY WE MOVED TO LORNE

Sue and Laurel bought the house in Lorne in late 2007. Ultimately, it was a lifestyle choice. They totally refurbished La Perouse to be an enchanting, elegant, luxury bed & breakfast. Their aim was to create something unique that reminds them of France with a coastal appeal that combines casual elegance and modern luxuries.

About Laurel & Sue

Combined, they have a background in nursing, midwifery, academia and publishing. Laurel worked predominantly in intensive care and Sue in midwifery. In more recent years, they taught at Deakin University and later managed a small publishing house in Melbourne. Having holidayed in Lorne since childhood the transition from the hospital to hospitality was quite natural. Sue is now the night supervisor at Lorne Community Hospital.

Together, they own and run La Perouse. Although they love to travel to France, they highly recommend the seachange to Lorne.

Located 2 hours drive from Melbourne, Lorne is highly accessible but still feels far enough away to be a holiday destination. Avalon airport is just over an hours drive. Tullamarine airport is an easy 2 hour drive along the great ocean road.
